West Highland Way in a day - completed!
Andrew took on the epic task of West Highland Way challenge race. Andrew crossed the finish line after 33 hours and 16 minutes of continuous effort covering 96 miles. Andrew took on this challenge to raise funds for us and to raise awareness for mental health. This challenge was 11 months of hard preparation. For Andrew this challenge wasn’t just about fitness it was about resilience, growth and self-care.
Reflecting on his achievement Andrew said:
“It’s just starting to sink in. But I must remind myself – this 11-month journey wasn’t just about one weekend. It gave me the motivation to use running to look after my own mental health. It helped me to engage with the 5 ways to wellbeing: Be active, Take Notice, Connect, keep learning and Give.”
“Even during race day, I was listening to the stories of other runners, admiring the Scottish landscape, learning about my own endurance and receiving kindness from family, friends, supporters and strangers. The walker who gave me Tangfastics around mile 35 was a saint.”
We are incredibly grateful for Andrew’s efforts!
